Analysis of a Title Sequence

The purpose of a title sequence is to promote the names of the companies involved with the film. Opening sequences have an order that they follow in which they have all the different listing and features of the genre to show to the audience what the film is supposed to be about. The Producer is the first to be promoted because the producer does the planning and producing of the film. Then the director would come next, the one who is the main director if there is a 2nd director the best most known director comes first. The main actor is then revealed, and then the rest of the cast, and crew, and then at the end of the opening sequence the director is shown again. The opening sequence i shall analyse will be James Bond - Quantum of Solace. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2v_W6Bjx_Vo

This opening sequence is clearly trying to introduce the location such as the background with sand dunes which means its location is based in the desert, and characters of the film such as the infamous Bond. The conventions are also clear from  the introduction of Bond where he has a gun and shoots portraying this to be an action/crime film. The music used for the sequence communicates the genre of the film to the audience, the music has a very fast paced, and aggressive, edgy sound to rhythm and lyrics which relates to the genre of the film, aswell as establishing the genre to the audience. The 007 number that is shown at the end of his real character name is his legendary special agent number, this also established the actor and main character.
