Production Diary

Lesson 1
Today we started filming and there was a slight problem to begin with because we were suppose dot film at 1.15 in the TV studio, but the group in there previously had left a big mess so we had to clean everything up and then set our stuff up so that delayed the filming for a while. From then on we had to rush a bit of filming with the time we had left in our film slot schedule. We dragged a sofa to the middle of the room with all the lights off but with one overhead light which shone down and half lit my face just like the first scene in the Godfather.

Lesson 2
We started filming again in the studio and set up all the props again trying to position them exactly as they were last time to the best of our memory! We then started filming with same light above our heads that shone down on this table so it was more like an interrogation, here i was filmed by Connie with Jake and myself having the conversation like the one in the film the God Father.

Lesson 3
Today we started to film the drug deal with Connie and Jake as i was filming them, before we started shooting we had to prepare some more sherbet in plastic bags pretending to be drugs because someone who had been using the studio before us had used our sherbet cocaine props for their film, so we had to make more! Once we made the sherbet bags we put everything together and filmed the drug deal which include the chocolate coins!

Lesson 4
Today one of our actors was off so we decided instead of filming that we would record the voice over for a part of film that we were going to narrate a conversation over. The only issue we had that day was trying to set up the recorder but we worked it out in the end.

Lesson 5
We have finally finished filming all the shots needed for our gangster film!
We went to the filming studio at 1.15 today to shoot most of the scene of our film, this included the cast Jake lewesy as Vinny the desperate drug buyer, myself as the GodDaddy, and Connie Brunskill as Pauly D the drug dealer. We managed to keep to the 180 degree rule this time and remained continuity. At first we had trouble finding the props we had used in a previous session, obviously we needed them to keep the continuity of the film but in the end it was hiding behind a bunch of curtains! After we had filmed everything we headed up to the editing suite to upload all of our footage. We edited out the out-takes and put together the useful footage into a timeline leaving gaps for credits etc. We also applied a black & white effect to the footage to keep to the genre of our film.
